Schumacher SC1361: ratings, fit and maintenance limits

The SC1361 is easier to assess if the three current markings are kept apart: 6↔2 A Charge/Maintain, 10 A Boost and 50 A Engine Start. Schumacher's exact product page and image identify the same model across those settings; the 50 A label is not routine battery-charge current. The directly linked manual supports a portable, grounded-120 V, 12 V lead-acid plan and names AGM explicitly.

12 V battery option

For a 12 V battery request, 105 reviewed configurations document a 12 V plan; the SC1361 contributes a 12 V lead-acid AGM Charge/Maintain path. Its manual supports 12 V only even though an extracted page icon says 6 V/12 V, so do not use the icon as evidence for a six-volt fit. See every model with a documented 12 V plan. Read the SC1361 review and compare its modes with other 12 V models before choosing by amperage alone.

Lead-acid chemistry option

At the lead-acid chemistry choice, 107 reviewed configurations have a documented lead-acid plan; the SC1361 manual names Standard and AGM lead-acid. Standard is not mapped here to a more specific flooded, EFB, maintenance-free or calcium subtype. Open the exact lead-acid finder result, then check the specific battery type, voltage and rate in the model's instructions. The SC1361 review explains its 12 V limit and distinct Boost and Engine Start modes.

AGM lead-acid subtype

For an AGM-specific request, 106 reviewed configurations document an AGM plan; the SC1361 is a one-output, 12 V AGM charger with a 6 A maximum ordinary-charge capability. The manufacturer's page-linked manual says current adjusts with battery size, so that 6 A figure is a capability screen, not a battery-specific recommendation. See all reviewed AGM matches and read the SC1361's full fit and limits.

Charge-a-battery option

For a battery-charging task, 108 reviewed configurations document a charge plan; the SC1361's ordinary setting is 6↔2 A Charge/Maintain, with Boost and Engine Start kept separate. Do not count its 10 A Boost or 50 A Engine Start as routine charging current. See every documented battery-charging plan, including the SC1361 review.

For the same portable, one-bank 12 V AGM Charge task with earlier references included, the SC1361 meets a 6 A minimum on its documented ordinary-charge capability. The manual says output adjusts to battery size; verify the battery manufacturer's permitted rate. See this exact 6 A condition and read the SC1361 review.

At the same 12 V AGM conditions with a 7 A minimum, the SC1361 drops out because its ordinary-charge capability is 6 A. Its 10 A Boost and 50 A Engine Start do not move that ordinary-charge boundary. See the same task with a 7 A minimum and compare the other models that remain.

Maintain-a-charged-battery option

For a maintenance task, 103 reviewed configurations document some automatic maintenance plan; the SC1361 switches to Maintain after charging and supplies a small current when needed. The manual gives no fixed float-current value or universal capacity ceiling and calls for occasional monitoring. A 1 A minimum-current filter screens the plan's charging capability, not its maintenance current; the 6↔2 A selector label is not a fixed float rating. Open all reviewed maintenance plans or see the one-output 12 V AGM task with a 1 A capability floor. Follow the battery maker's instructions and monitor for drains.

Portable plug-in installation

For a portable plug-in charger, 92 reviewed configurations document portable use; the SC1361 requires a grounded nominal 120 V outlet and has one battery output. It is not an on-board charger or a two-bank unit, and the manual says an extension cord is not recommended. See the exact portable option. Place it on a dry, nonflammable surface in a ventilated area; do not expose it to rain or snow.

Exclude earlier model references

With earlier models excluded, 108 current-reference configurations match; the SC1361 remains in this set as a current U.S. manufacturer-page reference. A current page is not a stock or seller-condition claim. See the current-reference result and check the offered unit's model label and manual.

Include earlier model references

With earlier models included, 112 current and earlier reviewed configurations match; the SC1361 remains in the result because the earlier toggle does not remove current references. It is still a 12 V AGM-only match in this evidence record, not a six-volt or lithium selection. See the result with earlier references included and compare the SC1361's documented capability.

Battery capacity and output-count checks

The SC1361 manual does not publish a universal Ah limit. A manual charge-time section with no usable capacity range cannot support a numeric upper-capacity claim, so the matcher does not treat an unknown limit as a fit. For a one-output 12 V AGM battery at 100 Ah with a 6 A floor, see the full condition with a 100 Ah requirement; the SC1361 is excluded from that capacity-filtered result. Its image shows one clamp pair, so it also cannot meet a two-bank minimum: check the exact two-output request.

Why 6 V and lithium are not SC1361 matches

The SC1361 does not match a 6 V AGM Charge request: its exact product page, image and page-linked manual support 12 V only, despite one inconsistent voltage icon. The separate SC1326 review discusses a charger with a documented 6 V AGM plan. See the exact 6 V AGM library result; the SC1361 review explains the evidence conflict.

The current page title and front label say 12 V, and its directly linked manual limits charging to 12 V lead-acid Standard or AGM. Retailer copy claims LiFePO₄, but the manual does not establish a lithium profile or BMS condition. This is a model-evidence boundary, not a claim that the whole library lacks other options. Open a separate 12 V LiFePO₄/BMS result; the SC1361 review explains why it is excluded.

Combined 12 V AGM charging choice

With 12 V, lead-acid, AGM and Charge selected together, the SC1361 matches as a single-output 12 V plan with a documented maximum ordinary-charge capability of 6 A. The selector's 2 A maintenance position and the separate 10 A Boost and 50 A Engine Start modes do not create a higher ordinary-charge rating. See this exact combined selection and read the model assessment. A match is not a battery-specific safe-rate recommendation.

Maintenance when voltage is not selected

With voltage left open and lead-acid AGM Maintain selected, the SC1361 can match only through its documented 12 V plan; confirm the battery is 12 V before connecting. Its manual describes automatic post-charge maintenance without a fixed float current or universal Ah ceiling. See this exact maintenance setup with voltage unselected and check the full SC1361 limitations.

12 V AGM maintenance with a 1 A current floor

With 12 V, AGM, Maintain, a 1 A minimum-current filter, one bank, portable installation and earlier=no, the SC1361 remains a match. The numeric filter compares documented ordinary-charge capability, not an unpublished float-current value; the manual still calls for monitoring. See this exact combined maintenance selection and read the SC1361 assessment.

Portable installation with one battery output

The SC1361 meets a portable, one-bank request: its exact image shows one clamp pair, and Boost and Engine Start are modes, not additional battery outputs. It still needs grounded 120 V AC, a dry work area and ventilation. See this exact portable one-bank selection and check the model's fit and limits.

Why one portable charger is not a two-bank charger

The SC1361 does not meet a portable two-bank minimum: the exact model image shows one clamp pair, not two independent battery outputs. A separate Battery Tender 2-Bank review covers a distinct multi-output arrangement. See this exact two-bank request before checking package and channel details.

Six-amp ordinary-charge boundary

For a portable, one-bank 12 V AGM Charge request with earlier references included, the SC1361 meets a 6 A minimum on its documented ordinary-charge capability. Output adjusts to battery size; this capability threshold is not a battery-specific safe-rate recommendation. See the same condition at 6 A and read its operating limits.

Seven-amp ordinary-charge boundary

For the same portable, one-bank 12 V AGM Charge request with earlier references included, the SC1361 fails a 7 A minimum because its ordinary-charge capability is 6 A; Boost and Engine Start do not count. The separate SC1280 is documented at 15 A for 12 V charging. See the same condition at 7 A.
