Schumacher SC1307: charge modes, chemistry and fit limits

The SC1307 page, linked manual and official face image identify a portable one-output charger with separate charge, boost and starting modes. The manual covers 6 V/12 V lead-acid Standard/AGM and 12 V LiFePO4 with an integral BMS. Verify the exact current manual supplied with any unit; the image’s visual scope does not show every documented profile.

Which voltages are documented?

The exact page and page-linked manual support 6 V and 12 V lead-acid charging; the manual also documents 12 V, not 6 V, LiFePO4 with the battery’s own BMS and all necessary protection. There is no 24 V plan. See the same-condition 6 V AGM finder result, the 12 V AGM result, or the same-option 24 V finder results. See the full SC1307 review.

For the voltage answer by itself, compare the finder’s 6 V, 12 V and 24 V results. The unqualified lead-acid AGM Charge interactions are 6 V and 12 V; the SC1307 is a documented candidate in each full result set.

Is 85 A the regular charging rate?

No. The exact image and page-linked manual separate 6/2 A Charge/Maintain from 30 A Boost and 85 A Engine Start. The assessment uses 2 A for its 6 V plan and a listed upper 6 A routine capability for 12 V; neither is a battery-specific safe-rate recommendation. The 12 V AGM plan clears a 6 A minimum but not an otherwise identical 7 A floor: 6 A condition · 7 A condition. Use the battery maker’s charge limit.

With the 6 V AGM answers held to one portable output and earlier models excluded, the SC1307 meets a 1 A or 2 A minimum but not 3 A: 1 A floor · 2 A floor · 3 A floor. The named 2 A setting is a capability only; follow the battery maker’s rate limit.

Which service modes are documented?

The current manual describes regular Charge/Maintain and an automatic post-charge Maintain mode for its lead-acid profiles. It does not establish a continuous 12 V Power Supply mode from Boost or Engine Start; those are separate functions, not an ordinary supply current. See each same-option finder answer: Charge, Maintain and Power supply. For supported chemistry, voltage and maintenance limits, see the current boundary and maintenance answer.

Does Standard mean every lead-acid subtype?

The manual names lead-acid Standard (STD) and AGM. Only the explicitly named AGM mode maps to the finder’s AGM subtype; Standard is not converted into Flooded/Wet, EFB, Gel, maintenance-free or Calcium support. See the same-option AGM answer or compare Flooded/Wet, Gel, EFB, maintenance-free and Calcium results.

For chemistry alone, the lead-acid and lithium-ion answers show their respective full result sets. The exact product supports an AGM subtype among its documented lead-acid plans, not every subtype represented by “Standard.” These direct subtype links preserve the finder’s single answer: Flooded/Wet, AGM, Gel, EFB, maintenance-free, Calcium and LiFePO4.

What about LiFePO4 and its BMS?

The exact page and the directly linked manual document 12 V LiFePO4 charging only when the battery pack includes its own BMS and all necessary protection. They do not document 6 V lithium or lithium without that condition. The photograph shows STD and AGM labels on the pictured panel, not a Li label; it does not display every documented mode. Check the current SC1307 manual supplied with the unit. See the same 12 V LiFePO4/BMS-required charge condition; compare the no-BMS-requirement condition.

The same-option answers are BMS required and no BMS requirement selected. The second choice is not a claim that the SC1307 works without pack protection. For a LiFePO4 task with BMS required but no current floor, the exact full condition is here; with a 3 A minimum, it is here. If the BMS answer is left blank at a 1 A floor, the result is this one; the SC1307 still requires the battery’s own BMS and protection.

Can it stay connected for maintenance?

For the documented lead-acid Charge/Maintain setting, the manual says automatic charging changes to Maintain when full and supplies a small current as needed. There is no fixed float-current number; it calls for occasional monitoring and may abort after excessive maintain demand for 12 continuous hours. See the same-condition 12 V AGM maintenance matches. This is not a substitute for finding a battery fault or vehicle drain.

The service choices by themselves are Charge, Maintain and Power supply. The SC1307 documents the first two only; “small current as needed” is not a numeric float-current promise. In the portable, one-bank AGM maintenance interaction with a 1 A minimum, compare the voltage-unspecified condition and the 12 V condition.

Is it portable or multi-bank?

The SC1307 is a portable 120 V AC unit with one clamp pair, not an on-board or two-bank charger. The manual requires grounded power, a dry and ventilated location, and says marine batteries must be removed and charged ashore. See the same portable one-output condition and compare the two-output requirement or the on-board option. The manufacturer’s six-foot “Cable Reach” field does not identify DC lead reach; check the delivered setup.

The individual finder answers are portable and on-board. One output satisfies the one-bank minimum, not the two-bank minimum. For portable 12 V AGM charge at 6 A with earlier models included, see the same-condition result; the SC1307 is current-reference, so including earlier products does not change this model’s status.

Does the manual establish an Ah ceiling?

No universal SC1307 amp-hour limit is stated. Its example chart is about charging time for selected partly discharged batteries, not a model-specific capacity maximum. A numeric capacity condition therefore cannot confirm the SC1307’s fit. See the same-condition 30 Ah assessment, and use the battery maker’s charge limits.

What does its current-reference status mean?

The manufacturer’s current U.S. collection and exact product page present SC1307, so this assessment remains included when earlier models are excluded or included. That does not establish seller stock, delivered condition or a specific package. Same task with earlier models excluded · same task with earlier models included.

The option by itself is exclude earlier models or include earlier models; neither asks for an “earlier-only” set. The SC1307 remains current-reference because the manufacturer’s current U.S. collection and exact page present it, not because seller stock or a delivered package was verified.
