Can the Vehicle Storage Gift Set charge a 12 V AGM battery at the 110 Ah boundary?
CTEK lists 12 V AGM support and gives 1.2–110 Ah charging for the package. Its product page, linked package sheet and included North American manual support 4.3 A maximum output, while a separate standalone MXS 5.0 U.S. sheet labels 5.0 A; this assessment uses 4.3 A and leaves the safe charging rate to the battery maker.
Explore this need in the finder →When can the included Cig Plug adapter charge a battery through a car's 12 V socket?
The package page lists Comfort Connect Cig Plug part 56-263 and says the vehicle socket must remain live while the ignition is off. Check that condition in the vehicle manual before treating the accessory socket as a charging path; otherwise use a supported clamp or eyelet connection under the charger instructions.
Explore this need in the finder →Can this package maintain a charged 12 V battery above its 110 Ah charging ceiling?
The exact gift-set page and linked sheet describe charging up to 110 Ah and separate maintenance up to 160 Ah. The MXS 5.0 manual describes float and pulse maintenance, but a maintenance ceiling is not a recharging limit for a depleted battery. Follow the battery maker's storage and supervision instructions.
Explore this need in the finder →The CTEK MXS 5.0 VEHICLE STORAGE GIFT SET is a separately listed package, not another version of the MXS 5.0 charging circuit. CTEK identifies retail item CTEK-Smart-122019 and says its centerpiece is MXS 5.0 charger part 40-206. This review treats the set as a choice for a buyer who needs its connection accessories, rather than crediting the bundle with extra current, extra banks or a different battery program. It is a document-based assessment of CTEK's exact U.S. package page, linked U.S. product sheet and North American manual, not a hands-on test.
Start with the charger inside the box
The included MXS 5.0 is a portable, one-output, mains-powered 12 V charger for lead-acid batteries. CTEK names flooded/wet, maintenance-free, calcium, AGM, EFB and GEL types. Its exact gift-set page and linked U.S. sheet list a maximum 4.3 A output and charging capacity up to 110 Ah, with maintenance support separated out to 160 Ah. That split is the practical limit to keep in view: the larger figure is not approval to recover-charge a discharged battery above 110 Ah. The North American manual describes a small-battery program as well as a normal program and an eight-step charge/maintenance cycle.
There is a published output discrepancy nearby. The gift-set page, its own sheet and the manual for the included charger all say 4.3 A. The current standalone MXS 5.0 NA page and manual also use 4.3 A, but a separate official standalone U.S. sheet says 5.0 A. The reviewed sources do not reconcile that older-looking sheet with the current page. This assessment uses 4.3 A for comparison and does not treat the charger's maximum as a safe rate for every battery. Check the battery maker's charging instructions, particularly if the permitted rate is lower or a precise charging time matters.
What the set actually adds
CTEK lists four additions alongside charger part 40-206: a 2.5 m / 8 ft 2 in Comfort Connect extension cable (part 56-304), a silicone Bumper sleeve (part 56-915), a Comfort Connect Cig Plug adapter (part 56-263), and an empty cardboard toolbox (part 56-BOX). The cable can change the reach of a portable charger connection. The socket adapter is more specific: CTEK says the vehicle's 12 V accessory socket must remain live with the ignition off for that route to charge the battery. Confirm that behavior in the vehicle manual; a switched socket that shuts down with the ignition is not a reliable charging path. The adapter is not a jump-start connection or a separate charger output.
One package detail deserves a check rather than an assumption. The page includes Bumper part 56-915 but describes its sleeve as fitting the CTEK 4.3, Lithium, 4.3 Polar and 4.3 Test & Charge chargers; it does not explicitly name the included MXS 5.0 in that fit sentence. The product image shows the package and an included bumper, but artwork cannot resolve which body the sleeve fits. If protection around the MXS 5.0 is a reason to choose this set, confirm fit with CTEK or the seller before counting on it. And the cardboard toolbox is identified as empty packaging, not a hard carrying case.
Safety and operating limits still belong to the MXS 5.0
The gift package does not add lithium charging, a 6 V or 24 V mode, a second bank or a device-power Supply mode. The included charger's manual says not to use RECOND with AGM or GEL batteries, warns against charging a frozen battery and calls for a ventilated setup. Although the package page lists an IP65 enclosure, the manual says not to expose the charger to rain or snow. That means the rating should not be read as permission for wet charging. The page gives an operating-temperature lower value of +5°C while the manual gives −20°C; CTEK's current exact instructions should settle that discrepancy before cold-weather use. A low-voltage start threshold or an automatic sequence is not a battery-health diagnosis.
Choose the package for the accessories, not a performance upgrade
For someone who only needs a portable 12 V lead-acid charger and its usual connections, the standalone MXS 5.0 NA is the closer comparison: the main charging plan is the same, so this set has no documented output advantage. The MXS 5.0 POWER KIT NA is another distinct bundle with an MXS 5.0, different connection accessories and a separate 5000 mAh powerbank. Compare the actual parts you would use rather than reading “gift set” as a more capable charger. Before purchase, match the listing to item CTEK-Smart-122019, verify the included MXS 5.0 part 40-206 and all four accessory numbers, check whether your socket stays powered with ignition off, confirm the Bumper fit, and read the battery and charger instructions. The package is most defensible when the extension or live socket adapter solves a real setup problem and the 110 Ah charging limit suits the job.
